Home away from home: Baan Noppawong, Bangkok Thailand
Thailand brings memories of a once in a life time magic, crunchy cricket, the Sky Bar at the Lebua, walks around Khao San Road, water taxis, pink taxis, bright warm smiles, and of course pad thai.
My stay was made even more memorable with lazy hours and mornings spent at a colonial ancestral home turned into hotel, Baan Noppawong, my home away from home for 4 days. I am always drawn to old architecture whether it is restored or not.
In the midst of a busy Khao San Road, somewhere tucked in a quiet cozy neighborhood is Baan Noppawong a place of refuge and retreat after a few hours of toe crunching walks. I especially loved how the ladies of Baan Noppawong smiled in the mornings, the sea of blankets and pillows on a bed that always called out to me, and how even the organic soap equipped bathroom made me want to stay in there for hours on end.
Organic breakfast was served everyday, and there are a variety of birds that sing as your morning alarm, and a cat who lingers around (actually who spooked the hell out of me one night when he tried to come inside, or shall I say knock on my window - made me jump silly)
I cannot wait to come back and visit!
I hope this little furball will still be around when I visit next.
