Tony Starking and Iron Manning Around Manila
When you start out your day with nothing planned, you go out and brave the unknown. Having said that you also have to prepare yourself for probable disappointments or a little hurdle here or there, the most important part of not having a plan is just really playing it by ear and laughing out the bad parts of the day.
Indian food + Iron Man 3 + A confusing drive around Manila with Patty and Patrick. Pat and Pat! Whaddya know. Hihi. I did have a bit more of an agenda to the day because I was trying to set them up.
Introduced Patty and Patrick (full from an earlier buffet) to Bollywood, a favorite eat out place of mine. Patrick feeling full did not force anymore food into his stomach, but Patty and I pigged out on a couple of my favorite dishes mango coconut salad, mutton paneer, and butter chicken with naan! Oh yeah baby, one can never have enough of naan. The rich bold flavorful food accompanied by Indian music videos (that we self translated crazily) made the experience a little bit authentic- had we stayed longer it would have been the total 360 degree experience with belly dancers and shisha! Obviously we did not make it for the show nor did we live the hookah-smoking caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland scene since we just spontaneously agreed on watching Iron Man 3. Greenbelt had soldout its tickets, and we sarcastically thought that IMAX at the Mall of Asia would have seats not available to the common mass population that we could just gun for. Ah! But we were wrong- well good thing Ash was delivered on earth as he got us executive House Seats - the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best seats in the movie house, ooooh yeah boy! There was no need for strong efforts to get in line and end up succumbing to the late night show with bad seats, thank you for friends who make things happen!
Anyway... what of the movie? Sad to say, I snoozed somewhere in between and if that happens you know that the movie is just not as good as you thought it to be. I have a couple of friends who watched it before me who said that it was "so good" (and they say this in an orgasmic manner) that got me totally psyched to see it. But wonk wonk wonk, a flop for me, when Cindy sleeps somewhere during the movie you know that it is/was weak in catching the audience's attention or interest. Nobody clapped, and the last movie I saw where everyone just applaused in delight was Rorouni Kenshin. Totally two different genres but come on, that was one unforgettable movie. So now, I am going to break it to you gently as I can - No, don't watch it on the big screen guys, get the DVD instead and see what I mean for yourself.
A disappointing night it was, we ended up trying to look for an open cafe, then decided on seeing little people at The Hobbit House, in trying to search for it we ran through Manila weaving in and out of the streets trying to figure if The Hobbit House was truly near Arquiza, R. Cheza, or Arcasia (per directions of a street cigarette vendor) and finding out that it is indeed Arquiza and landing in front of an already closed Hobbit House. What a night huh, well it is morning. Patty was dropped off safely while we crazily and desperately tried to keep ourselves awake by singing along with old tunes, best part of the night- well I got to spend it with two of my wonderful friends while laughing and singing our hearts out.
